April 6 to September 9, 2001, the Hickory Museum of Art sponsored the
largest exhibition of artistic chairs ever seen in the United States.
"Chairs on Parade" was seen by local residents, tourists and
media representatives as they followed this unique project across the

each of which featured over- sized animals or inanimate objects decorated
by local artists and displayed throughout the city. Larger-than- life
furniture was the natural choice for Hickory.
